The Building Sights Award 2003 is a joint initiative by CABE, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment and the Arts Council England. It was won by Enabling Concepts for its work with the Classrooms of the Future Project in Telford; a DfES project developing teaching and learning environments for the twenty-first century.
The award represents not just buildings themselves, but the interaction and involvement of people in their development. It focuses on the way in which people outside the construction industry engage with the construction process.
Enabling Concepts were part of the project team introducing schools to the INTEGER Education Project, an education programme created by the team in 1999, and funded by DTI. The INTEGER Education Project creates innovative learning partnerships between construction and education, and explores the extensive teaching and learning opportunities present in the built environment.
